Lean System for Management™

Lean System for Managementâ„¢

Lean System for Management™ Design (LSFM™)

LSFM is an integration program for organizational mobilization and sustained culture change. It provides the company with an opportunity to build a new culture aligned with corporate objectives of work velocity, quality, and training. By carefully crafting the message of LSFM™, the mobilization campaign can be instrumental in promoting the understanding, principles and practices critical to a successful culture change.

The model design is a nine step methodology that includes a linear progression  of the following;
  1. Selection of turn-around (TAT) expectations and value stream mapping (VSM) are determined as initial activities;
  2. Establish objectives for implementation along with expected outcomes of TAT reduction;
  3. Determine internal training necessary to for skill set improvement;
  4. Install tracking metrics and dashboards to be used daily;
  5. Determine adjustments, if any, for departmental customization based on customer or industry needs;
  6. Establish schedules and timetables for departmental participation;
  7. Provide coaching or training as necessary for management;
  8. Install a mentoring program for reinforcement and consistency of approach;
  9. Install a monitoring and continuous improvement process.

The system is designed to effectively manage specific industry categories and the people within those departments serving those categories.  Additionally, it provides basic management training for department leaders to understand necessary managerial skill sets by focusing current abilities to get work accomplished without impairing individual motivation and creativity.

Visualization of the Lean System for Management™ Objectives

A specific tool that is incorporated within the LSFM™ objectives are goal roll down based on overall corporate objectives of captured work velocity within the department. The methodology contributes to organizational alignment processes that are keeping within a lean bottom-up approach. Objectives are defined within a planning process that identifies current work projects and issues involving those projects such as sample handling.

Scheduling systems are provided to assure that daily schedules of work are completed, and individual organizational abilities are enhanced complementing PA’s and IDP’s. Visual control systems are incorporated to expose barriers that are preventing work completion along with a barrier removal processes.
The reporting system is pyramidal in nature with a closed system for providing feedback loops. Finally, the system is punctuated by a reward and recognition system that recognizes team performance with individual contributions highlighted.

Competitive Advantages for LSFM™

The methodology is a functional management approach that includes a planning piece for individual departments and industry sectors. Organizational in nature, the methodology assumes that companies that are better planned, organized, and staffed will provide the best decision analysis, problem solving, and communication to internal and external customers.

The methodology provides a controlled environment that is well-organized. It also exposes company intangibles that customers are willing to pay for, but are usually hidden within the departmental process itself, such as a companies’ reputation, brand equity, leadership and human capital to name a few.
